How long has ZipCodeedo.com been around? We went live in the third quarter of 2010. We started with a soft launch so that we could work out the kinks. Please send us any kinks you notice. We will be considering ourselves "beta" for a while.

What makes ZipCodeedo.com different? Lately, everybody seems to want to "Go Global' or "Go Big or Don't Go at All". Sure, we think there is a place and time to "Go Big" or "Go Global" but there is also another place that we are concerned about that has kind of been forgotten lately. That place is a place we all call "Home"; you know where everybody actually lives. ZipCodeedo.com offers everybody a platform that they can use to present their town as they see it, a canvas that we can all participate in painting to create our towns the way we see them. We want everyone's local input to help bring or communities together. ZipCodeedo.com should be a catalyst to get the word out about local schools, business, events, charities, doctors, churches and more.

What will make ZipCodeedo.com a Success? We need critical mass. We need lots of people to register! We need people to Post their businesses and organization! We need people to Post Events! We need people to come back and see interesting useful information about what is going on locally. We imagine that there will be some towns that flourish and others that simply don't get cooking right away. Some towns will be all about bars and restaurants and others will be about schools and charities. Some may have a lot of interest in clubs and garage sales. We really don't know. It is going to be a dynamic system and different personalities will show up on different towns. It should be fun! Please participate and ask others to do so as well. It's Free and it's yours! Run with it!

What do I have to do to get started? Register silly. It's free and simple. We don't ask a lot of questions and we won't Spam you or give away or sell your email address. Once you register and you confirm your registration you can add a little to your profile if you want or go right to Posting. We recommend you add a business logo to your profile if you are likely to Post about a business because it will display next to your Posts. Do what you want with your personal profile pictures but nothing too racy, (No Nudes) on the photos please. Your profile picture will display next to your post also. You can also choose not to upload a photo or logo and nothing will display

What can I Post on ZipCodeedo.com? Once a user registers, he or she can Post just about anything as long as it isn't offensive. We define offensive loosely as, "If you have to ask yourself if it is ok to post this because it may be considered offensive, the answer is probably, 'No, you shouldn't post it'."

As far as what you can Post:

Well, you can Post an event at your business, charity, school, church or other organizations. You can also Post events of a more personal matter like your garage sale in a couple of weeks, the wine club meeting at the local restaurant or use it to help organize a block party.

You can also list your group, business or organization with its Name, Address (optional), Website (optional), and Link Text for your website address (optional), Contact email address (optional) and a Brief description of your business or organization (also optional). Then select a category or Tab where you want your group, business or organization to display and the subcategory on that tab. You can also request a unique new category which is subject to approval and may take some time. You also can choose which Zip Codes you want to display in from a drop down box showing the nearest Zip Codes surrounding your hometown.

How does the Posting work? When you Post something on ZipCodeedo.com you are given the choice of having your Post displayed on the home town Zip Code that you gave us when you registered and also from a selection of the Zip Codes nearest to your hometown. Hold down the "Ctrl" key to select multiple Zip Code options. You can choose any number or all of those Zip Codes in the dropdown box. This will allow you to publicize your organization or event to all "locals" within your area. If you are in New York and are looking at a town you are going to visit in Texas, you will see what is going on in that Texas town and nearby Texas towns. If you wanted to Post to a larger area you can create another Post in a another area. Please don't abuse this privilege as we want a "local feel". We don't want a pet groomer in LA to be advertising their services 400 miles away in San Francisco or a tanning salon in Miami to be advertizing in Naples. We've seen those sites and it doesn't make sense to have useless information just to make the pages look full. If you really want to advertise on our website statewide or nationally, we can host an ad for you on the page you want for a reasonable fee. See "Advertise Here" at the bottom of the page.

How much does it cost to Register and Post a Business or an Event on ZipCodeedo.com? Nothing! It's Free and there never will be a fee to either register or post.

Can I Post more than one Business? Yes, but remember that only one profile picture or logo will display. You can choose to Post with no logo for both or the wrong logo for one of your businesses. However you should probably just create another account for each business or organization. Remember you will need a unique email address for each account. Also remember that you may want different hometown Zip Codes for each business because they can only Post in the nearby Zip Codes.

Can I Post more than one Event? Sure, we want lots of Posts. The more the merrier as long as they are in the correct category and you don't abuse the "local" feel. Once your event has happened, it will expire. Please choose your dates carefully. Usually 4 to 6 weeks notice in advance is sufficient. We will allow charity, church and other fundraising events more time than say a Garage Sale.

Where will my Posts show? The Posts will show up in the Zip Codes that you chose when you created your Post, on the tab that you chose and in the subcategory that you also chose.

When will my Post show up? As soon as we get to it and believe me that will be job one. We are hoping to have same day service.

How does the Twitter work? First create a twitter account if you don't already have one. Then you simply follow your ZipCodeedo.com hometown (and any other ZipCodeedo.com town within reason) and we will follow you back. Remember to keep it local, your surrounding area. This way you can tweet dinner specials, happy hours, half price sales, school football games or whatever else you want to Tweet and since we are following you back, it will scroll by on the town's "Calendar and Tweet" page for other viewers to see whether or not they are registered and or Logged In.

Why can't I show my business to the entire country? That's not what we are trying to do. There are probably other places that allow you a broader market but we think that dilutes what we are trying to do here. We've seen sites where you can type in "taxi cab" in Red Bank, New Jersey and get shown a taxi cab company in Atlantic City, New Jersey. That serves no purpose to the locals. You can always take out ad space that we can show nationally or statewide, if you really want to do so. Please check "Advertise Here" at the bottom of the page for more information.

Can I advertise on ZipCodeedo.com? Of course you can. Please see "Advertise Here". We presently offer several options.

Do you give away or sell my email address to any other groups? Nope. We don't do that and we won't do that. We reserve the right to contact you at some time in the future about something we think is important but we can't imagine contacting you more than on more than a quarterly basis and right now we don't know what we would say except "thanks". So, we'll say that now. "Thanks!!"
